The government’s 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy, which outlines important fiscal measures and growth plans intended to sustain economic recovery and stabilise public finances, was given to Parliament yesterday, Thursday by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

Dr. Forson stressed that the 2026 budget demonstrates the government’s commitment to restoring stability, safeguarding livelihoods, and promoting inclusive growth when presenting the budget on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.

Macroeconomic stability, job creation, and assistance for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) are given top priority in the 2026 Budget under the theme “Resetting for growth, jobs, and economic transformation.”

The Minister stated that in order to increase output, encourage investment, and guarantee effective public spending, the government will keep enacting focused fiscal policies.

In order to control the budget deficit, the 2026 Budget anticipates moderate revenue growth through improved tax compliance, digitalisation of tax systems, and spending rationalisation.
