Signs Your Friend Is Jealous Of You
Friends sometimes succumb to the green-eyed monster. There are several methods to recognize whether a buddy is envious of you. Analyze how you two communicate to determine if your buddy is being condescending or distant. Take note of how your buddies generally act.
Jealousy is more likely to be present in someone who exudes pessimism. Talk it out and try to come up with a compromise if your buddy is envious of you. Jealousy may thrive in a strong friendship. You may tell your buddy is envious of you if:

1. Monitoring your interactions.
Beware of unintentional compliments. A buddy who is envious of you could congratulate you to seem helpful. However, since the praises could be misinterpreted, their resentment will come through. You could catch passive-aggressive insults if you listen closely to certain praises. These kinds of praises may be jealously motivated.
For example, a friend may find a way to make it sound like they’re complimenting you, but work in an insult. Say you get a new job. A backhanded compliment may be something along the lines of, “That’s great. They don’t usually hire people with so little experience, but good for you.”
2. See if your friend diminishes your achievements.
A companion who is envious probably feels self-conscious. As a result, they are ready to minimize the accomplishments of people around. Your acquaintance could try to find anything unpleasant to say or a method to make you appear unworthy if you get good news.
Let’s use the example of receiving a “A” on a paper. A buddy who is envious would warn, “Avoid assuming too much. I wouldn’t become too cocky just now since we still have half the semester left.” Some envious friends could go one step further and make remarks that overshadow whatever accomplishments you may have in addition to downplaying your success.
These friends may make comments that put emphasis that they somehow have gotten something bigger and better than your own achievement.
3. Notice a lack of overall encouragement.
Secure friends celebrate one another’s achievements. While other friends may give an enthusiastic congratulations if something goes well for you, a jealous friend will react differently. They may say something curt like, “Ok. Cool.” It will not sound like a sincere or excited congratulations.
4. See if your friend is pulling away.
A rival buddy can begin to distance themselves from you. They can see your accomplishment as a symbol of what they lack if they are feeling envious. A envious buddy could be seen relocating slowly.
A buddy you used to visit often may now make reasons for not coming to see you all the time, such as being “very busy.” You may have noticed that although your buddy often makes time for other people in your social group, she no longer makes time for you.
5. Pay attention to whether your friend listens.
Hearing about your accomplishment would bore an envious buddy. When you discuss topics like your career, studies, or a new romance, you can notice your companion appears uninterested. They could turn away, play on their phone, and refrain from talking to you or asking you about your life. Signs Your Friend Is Jealous Of You
