The Asawasi Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC),Mr Nasir Gardnenboi has debunked the lies peddle by the vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia that, the Kumasi Central mosque was renovated by Dr Bawumia.
According to him, it was during H.E John Mahama’s administration that the mosque was clothed with rehabilitation.
He added that, under the political epoch of John Mahama in 2015 ,where money was accumulated through Prince Al- Walid of Saudi Arabia for the aforementioned project to be rehabilitated.
“John Mahama was the brain child behind the renovation of the project, so it is very sardonic for Dr Bawumia to have claimed ownership ” he lamented.
Mr Nasir, disclosed that it is very mind blowing and heart breaking to read from other media portals that, the renovation and refurbishment of the Kumasi Central was solely financed by Dr Bawumia in fulfilment of a promise he made to the Muslim community in the Ashanti Region.
He urged the public to ignore such palpable falsehood by Dr Bawumia, adding that , the Vice President ought to give credit when necessary for the beauty of democracy to be realized.

BAWUMIA’S DESPERATION FOR POLITICAL POWER, THE KUMASI CENTRAL MOSQUE PROJECT IN FOCUS.
The executive committee of the NDC in Asawasi Constituency has taken note of comments on Social Media, Print Media, Traditional Media etc regarding commissioning of the rehabilitated Kumasi Central Mosque, and we wish to set the record straight.
We’re alarmed by the number of fabrications screwed to taint the image of the NDC in the Zongo community through the actions of the Vice President, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, we found his actions unfortunate and general public must treat it with the contempt it deserves.
However, the undeniable fact is that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, was the brain behind the Kumasi Rehabilitated Mosque Project, under his reign as President of Ghana in 2015, funds were secured through Prince Al-Walid of Saudi Arabia for the project so it’s out of place for the Vice President, to claim ownership of the project.
The history must be told, the development of the mosque has largely been inter-generational spanning decades of different administration. The construction of the Mosque started in earnest under the Sariki Zongo Ahmadu Baba, in 1954, together with his sub-chiefs and good number of Muslim-Humma, supported the establishment of the Kumasi Central Mosque.
We find it defeating and unpleasant, the disregard for history relative to polarisation of unity the Zongo people are enjoying.
It seems weird, absurd and disingenuous against our religious and traditional belief to use the Holy place as a conduit for political propagation to promote NPP party. In an era where the Vice president is yet to find his economic lens, finding solace in other people’s project’s becomes a respite. We called on the Vice President to focus on reviving the economy which he as a leader of Economic Management Team led us into a junk state.
In conclusion, “We must open ourselves to a higher reality, to view the spirit of togetherness within the matter to raise our consciousness to the point where our perception of reality is completely changed, and the divine within all creation is revealed.” Good leadership, therefore as Islam entails, is to direct people to achieve a long term best interest, the interest which will alleviate poverty and economic hardship.
