The Gender Based Violence Court has heard testimony from a 24-year-old shopkeeper who is accused of putting a heated stone between a seven-year-old girl’s thighs in Maamobi, Accra.
After accusing the youngster of bedwetting, Ayishatu Zakari is accused of causing harm by heating a stone on a fire, scooping it with a spoon, and placing it between her thighs.
She entered a not guilty plea.
Under the direction of Mr. Kwabena Kodua Obiri Yeboah, the court granted her bail in the amount of GHC30,000 with two sureties and mandated that she return on January 6, 2026.
After learning that the child’s father was having a stroke, the court ordered the police to take custody of the victim and turn her over to her biological mother.
Two procedures are said to have been performed on the minor.
Chief Inspector Opoku Aniagyei, the prosecutor, stated that the complainant—whose name was withheld—is a trader who lives in Maamobi with Zakari.
The victim, a pupil, is seven years old.
After the victim’s aunt died in 2023, the youngster moved home with the accused. The prosecution claimed Zakari continually accused the victim of bedwetting.
On October 23, 2025, Zakari allegedly heated a stone, retrieved it with a spoon, and inserted it between the child’s thighs. She then bathed the victim and sent her to school.
The girl sobbed and fell as her friend got on her lap while they were playing during playtime.
When the friend noticed the burns, they told a teacher, who then told the headteacher. Zakari was invited by the headteacher, but she did not show up.
The Nima Police received a medical form for the victim after the friend’s father reported the incident to them. According to the prosecution, Zakari was taken into custody after confessing to the crime in a warning statement.
