The Adabraka District Court has arraigned nine males in relation to the September 10 violent attack on one Mutala Yayaa in Darkuman, Accra.
A gang of men was seen beating the victim in the event, which was captured on camera and shared on social media.
The suspects Bernard Tagoe, also known as Asa Sese; Nii Eric Martey; Michael Lokko; Felix Adu Mensah; Habib Gusamu; Solomon Assan; Kwame Khalid; Jacob Addy; and Gideon Arthur allegedly used dangerous weapons, such as a cutlass, axe, and scissors, to attack the complainant, according to a statement issued by police on Friday, September 19. Yayaa suffered severe injuries to his head and body as a result of the attack.
To the charges of harming others and conspiring to commit a crime, all nine entered not guilty pleas.
They were ordered to return on September 29, 2025, after the court remanded them into police custody.
According to the authorities, there are still four other suspects connected to the attack who have not been apprehended: Yaala, Show, Joseph Gattor, Savess, and John Km. They are being sought in order to apprehend them and aid in the current investigation.
The Accra Regional Police Command warned the public in a statement against using violence to resolve conflicts. Instead of enforcing the law on their own, it encouraged community members to settle disputes through legal procedures.
