Frederick Kumi, also known as Abu Trica, has sued in the Human Rights Division of the High Court in Accra, alleging that after being arrested on December 11, 2025, for suspected internet fraud, he was subjected to torture, wrongful incarceration, and abuses of his fundamental rights.
The 27-year-old Ghanaian has cited the Attorney-General, the FBI, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), the Minister of the Interior, and the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) as respondents in his compensation claim of GH₵10 million.
Abu Trica claims in the court filings that as he was playing video games, more than fifteen armed officers broke into his flat in the Airport Residential Area.
“I was handcuffed and remained restrained from morning until late evening without access to food, water, or rest,” he asserted.
Additionally, he maintains that three foreigners posing as FBI agents questioned him while he was in Ghanaian custody.
The motion states “The decision and conduct of officers of the 2nd Respondent in permitting agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation… to interrogate the Applicant without access to Counsel, was unlawful and in violation of Articles 14 and 19 of the 1992 Constitution.”
Kumi claims he was threatened with links to $8 million in fraudulent transactions if he didn’t divulge phone passwords and forced to sign paperwork he couldn’t read.
Abu Trica alleges that NACOC and EOCO carried out illegal raids on his Swedru home, referred to as “Abu Trica’s Mansion,” while he was in custody.
A Lamborghini, Mercedes, and Cybertruck were among the purportedly seized items, along with numerous iPhones, laptops, a PlayStation 5 and Starlink modem, and silver chains, jewellery, and watches from Cartier.
He says that there was no inventory and that many of the things belonged to friends.
