Abuakwa North Mp Inspects Street Light Project

The member of parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency also the deputy minister of Education incharge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo has on Thursday 9th July, 2020, inspected the third and final phase of the constituency’s street lightening project.

Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo explained that, she lobbied the project from the Ministry of Energy and was awarded to Prefos Limited.

The honourable mp mentioned that, the first and second phases are completed and in operation (Old Tafo-Akim and Akim Kukurantumi), remaining the third and final phase (New Tafo-Akim) which is due for completion by ending of July 2020.

“In all, six hundred and five (605) blue and white coloured poles with LED lights have been allocated for Akim Kukurantumi, Akim Old- Tafo and Akim New-Tafo. So far, Akim Kukurantumi and Akim Old-Tafo installations are completed and in operation leaving that of the third phase, New Tafo-Akim. Prefos Limited who is the contractor has assured me that, the third phase will be completed by ending of July 2020, I have fixed over five hundred (500) LED lights on newly settled areas and towns where the blue and white poles are unavailable.”. The honourable member of parliament added that, crime rate in the constituency has reduced drastically due to the street lights installation.
