An Accra Circuit Court has granted GH¢50,000 bail with two sureties to blogger Samuel Amadotor of Dklassgh.net for allegedly publishing fake material against former NCA Board Chairman Okatakyie Boakye Danquah Ababio II.
Amadotor is charged under Section 123 of the Electronic Transactions Act (Act 772) and Section 208(1) of the Criminal Offenses Act (Act 29) for disseminating false information to incite fear and panic.
He entered not guilty pleas to both.
Amadotor was arrested at home, according to police, after posting videos and tales online that damaged Ababio’s reputation.
The judge granted bail after hearing arguments from the prosecution and defense, although it did not state why.
Jerry Avenorgbo, Amadotor’s attorney, characterized the bail decision as a favorable result. After his release, the trial will resume.
