A delegation led by the Volta regional chairman of the Chamber of Automobile Dealership Ghana (CADEG), Mr.Kuada Wise Festus and Guta Regional Chairman Togboe Azimah met the Regional Sector Commander of GRA CUSTOMS DIVISION, Mrs. Felcia Dadeboe Azumah with her two assistant deputies at the Regional Head Office in Ho.
In her open remarks, she thanked CADEG for the initiative to organize such an event in the fegion. She added that, there are nine (9) collection centres under her command and most challenges come from some traders abusing advantages of the trade privileges they enjoy.
According to her, there is a provision for Ghanaian Traders working in the Volta region to use their unregistered cars in the neighboring countries for days.
This same privileges is applied in the neighboring countnes *(TOGO)* for traders is being abused as vehicles brought to Ghana are rather sold to Ghanaians without paying the accepted Taxes by the traders.
A recent operations in the Voita region which lasted for three months led to the arrest of 800 such vehicles without payment of relevant Taxes.
As part of the Volta Regional CADEG Business Conference, Chairman Togboe Azimah of GUTA Promised to invite all members and other stakeholders to this very important Trade Sensitization program in the region by CADEG and it’s strategic partners.
CAGED regional Chairman Mr.Wise thanked the Regional comander for the opportunity given, and assurance to bring the 9 officers from vanous collection poits in the Voita Region as part of the partnership during the CADEG business conference as weil as help in the sensitization of the general public on NON PAYMENENT OF TAXES AND DUTY going forward.
