In a move to crack down corruption in the country, the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has unveiled substantial progress in investigations pertaining to former appointees of the erstwhile New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, Dr. Ayine disclosed that his office is poised to indict several high-profile individuals embroiled in scandals, including the contentious Skytrain and National Service Authority (NSA) “Ghost” names affairs.

With regard to the Skytrain scandal, Dr. Ayine affirmed that exhaustive investigations have been concluded, and charges will be levied against former CEO, Mr. Solomon Asamoah, and erstwhile Board Chairman, Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi, in the forthcoming week.

“We have conclusively established that the $2 million disbursed by the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund was effectuated sans board approval. The sole individuals privy to and instrumental in facilitating the payment were the former CEO, Mr. Solomon Asamoah, and the erstwhile Board Chairman, Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi. Both will face charges next week,” Dr. Ayine elucidated.

He further intimated that several board members have proffered their willingness to testify as prosecution witnesses, signifying that their offers are being duly considered.

In relation to the NSA “Ghost” names scandal, Dr. Ayine indicated that investigations have advanced considerably, and his office will initiate prosecutions against implicated individuals commencing the first week of May.

“Other matters, including the National Cathedral, Mathematical Sets, and Senior High School WIFI, are also nearing culmination, with dockets being meticulously prepared to precipitate prosecutions,” he stated.

Moreover, Dr. Ayine revealed that investigations have unearthed a novel “criminal enterprise” allegedly orchestrated by the former Director General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu-Boahene, who is currently facing charges for purported theft of GH¢49.1 million.

According to Dr. Ayine, Adu-Boahene purportedly executed a contract with the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) for the provision of secured internet services, with GWCL remitting GH¢1.3 million monthly to his company, BNC Communication Bureau Limited. “Conservatively, Mr. Adu-Boahene received in excess of GH¢60 million from GWCL for the purported contract,” Dr. Ayine stated.

He added that his office is on the cusp of completing the investigative docket and will subsequently charge Adu-Boahene and his accomplices separately.

These developments underscore the administration’s unwavering commitment to accountability and transparency, as Dr. Ayine’s office persists in its diligent efforts to bring malefactors to justice.
