Akufo-Addo must necessitate dialogue and seek ideas from governance expects for a in his Administration – NDC parliamentary candidate hopeful

The NDC parliamentary candidate hopeful for Tano South Constituency in the Ahafo region, Dr. Nana Agyemang Prempeh who is also a Senior Lecturer and Head of Department at the Department of Atmospheric and Climate Science at the University of Energy and Natural Resource (UENR) Sunyani has called on President Akufo Addo and his NPP government to consider public and technocrats engagement on governance to generate a different set of ideas that may help redirect the nation from the current destitute governance.

He denoted that as a country, everything indicates that we need public engagement and consultation now more than ever to help in the running of affairs indicating that we may have different political ideologies but the party in governance after realizing they lack the requisite ideas and knowledge to continue effective governance must as a matter of urgency seek hypotheses from leaders of past governance, stakeholders and technocrat to help them safeguard the mess popping up day in and out.

He added that the previous government of the late President Atta Mills and John Mahama after going through a series of difficulties called on the public and other opposition parties to come on board with ideas that may help to bring the pieces together hence the current economic hardship and bad governance from the Akufo Addo led NPP must consider engaging the public, the opposition parties, and leaders from other nations to solicit ideas that may help mitigate the agony we are going through as a nation.

Dr. Nana Agyemang Prempeh noted that the current economic situation as mentioned by the finance minister that failure to obtain the IMF bailout in the mid-March may result in the crash of the country’s economy is something indispensable that needed serious attention, therefore, activities of governance that drains the coffers of the country must be critically looked at.

He emphasized the need for President Akufo Addo to merge some of the ministries that have similar functions to reduce the size of the government to be able to protect the public purse as he promised some years ago indicating that cutting down the size of the government will bring some relief to Ghanaians.

On the Attorney General’s letter to the Auditor general citing him on breach of the Constitution for publishing reports of the auditor general before parliamentary scrutiny, the parliamentary candidate hopeful stated that the attorney general might be right from a legal perspective but he shouldn’t have talked about it in this period of governance where all indicators depict hardship on the ordinary citizens while government officials keep mishandling the finances of the country.

He said matters of the embezzlement of covid 19 funds published by the auditor general is an issue of public concern hence he doesn’t by the auditor general as mentioned by the attorney general.
