An update regarding the newborn baby discovered abandoned close to Bronyibima Estate in the Central Region is provided by the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP).

The infant, who is thought to be around a day old, is reportedly in stable health and is presently undergoing medical treatment.

To protect the youngster, Department of Social Welfare officials have temporarily assumed control of her.

The Department of Social Welfare and the Ghana Police Service are working together to find and identify the mother and any close relatives.

While we continue to track down the family, MoGCSP reassures the public that the baby’s general wellbeing is still our top priority and that suitable preparations have been taken to guarantee the kid is well-cared for.

The Ministry urges anyone with information that could help the current investigation to come forward and praises the community members who saved the infant.

In cases of unexpected or crisis pregnancies, we also encourage parents or guardians who are struggling to get help from the proper social welfare services.

The public is also urged to report any information that could help protect children and vulnerable individuals or to seek support and guidance by calling the Ministry’s Helpline of Hope Call Center at 0800-800-800 or 0800-900-900, which are toll-free lines.

The Ministry is steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of all children and stresses that leaving a child behind is a grave breach of their rights.
