Founder of The Radiant Place and Nkum’s World Outreach Organisation, Apostle Emmanuel Nkum, has stirred widespread conversation after declaring that dancehall artiste Shatta Wale is more popular than Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking to his congregation, the life coach and preacher used Shatta Wale’s massive influence as an example of the power of modern grassroots popularity.
“Just realised that the President of Ghana is not as popular as Shatta Wale. Yeah,” Apostle Nkum remarked, drawing murmurs and laughter from the audience.
He explained that his realization came after witnessing the massive turnout at ShattaFest 2025, held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Independence Square in Accra.

The event, which doubled as the musician’s 41st birthday celebration, drew tens of thousands of fans and was free to attend.
According to the Apostle, he was particularly struck by how Shatta Wale managed to mobilize such a huge following without traditional media advertising, relying mainly on social media and fan loyalty.
For him, the phenomenon was a lesson in leadership and communication, proving that influence in today’s world goes beyond titles or political power.
“Shatta Wale’s ability to command that level of attention shows authentic connection and influence,” Apostle Nkum said, noting that the artist’s reach reflects a new form of social leadership rooted in relatability and emotional connection.
