At KIA, a woman traveling to Canada forgets her “new” name.
Last weekend, there was a drama at Kotoka International Airport Terminal Three when a woman on her way to Canada misplaced her “new” identity, which resulted in her detention by the authorities.
We learned that the Canadian visa she was using to travel had been revoked so she could use it to exit the nation, but the immigration agents exposed her during a brief questioning.
It was revealed that Abigail was the name on the passport, but when questioned what her name was, she gave the response Ayishetu.
As a result, the immigration official double-checked her paperwork and discovered that all of it listed Abigail as her name, not Ayishetu as she had claimed.
A critical look at the visa showed that it had been tampered with. A check from the Canadian Embassy showed that they indeed issued a visa to the said Abigail with the same passport number.
The woman whose name is Ayishetu was supposed to take on the name Abigail as her new identity until she arrived at her destination, according to the statement.
However, when she went to the airport, she realized her error and added that she had lately changed her name to Abigail. She had previously claimed that she was known as Ayishetu.
The immigration officer didn’t think this explanation made sense, so he turned her over to the police so they could look into it further.
