On the 5th of March,2023, the office of the Greater Accra Regional secretariat of GPRTU hosted 18 branches from GPRTU and supervised an impartial and free and fair electioneering exercise.
The workaholic Greater Accra Regional Chairman of GPRTU *DR NII NANA OKOFO ARHIN AMPOFI ANNAN (1)* and his abled Regional Executives did fantastically and Excellently well for ensuring that the whole electioneering exercise,strived in the atmosphere of peace and unity,till the end.
Confusion and rancour got missed in action, because there was no misunderstanding to be accounted for or witnessed to destructed and disturbed the Elections.
In terms of security wise,it was solid,there were some police officers and some GPRTU private security guards, around to ensured law and order.
The Elections started very early around 7am and ended at 1pm, the whole electioneering exercise went on very smoothfully, without any delayance.
Most of the newly Elected Executives went on-post without having contest, that does not make the Elections to be a easy contest but rather,it proofed that most of the newly Elected Executives are competent and they worked to the satisfaction of their members, that’s why they were given the green light to continue their good work, in office for another term.
Speaking to the national Communications director of GPRTU *HON ABASS IBRAHIM MORO* he gave a background account about the Elections,he stated that GPRTU, the mother of all drivers union in Ghana, believes in true democracy, and always choose the democratic principles to elects all their Executives, also ensured free and fair elections, whenever they go to the polls.He added that in every four years per the constitution of GPRTU, every branch,is mandated to go for a re-election, when their tenure of office is over.
The deputy National Communications director of GPRTU,*MR SAMUEL AMOAH* also added a different twist to the electioneering exercise, by saying that,all that happened during the Elections,has been the normal rituals or norm for GPRTU,if you are an executive member of GPRTU, and you performed or discharged your duty or work well, your members will always give you a go ahead to continue your good work in office.
These are some of the names of the branches, that went for the Elections, they are Ablekuma branch,Odorkor branch, Odorkor branch Number 3,Tema branch, Ashaiman Lebanon Zenu,Kaneshie branch, Kaneshie Number 3, Kaneshie Number 2, Circle Obra spot branch Number 1,Omanjor Atikpoe Dwenewoho Branch,New Generation Taxi branch,Accra circle Cape coast and Tarkoradi branch,Accra Somanya Akosombo branch,Dangbe Shai branch,Anyaa Branch,Abeka Lapaz main branch, and New Market Nyamekye branch,most of the Executives in these branches sail through the Elections process successfully.
All those who worked relentlessly and tirelessly to ensured that the whole electioneering exercise will have a goodwill and good press reportage, have really done a Yooman’s job, and needs to be applauded and appreciated.
