‘You’re Destroying The Party With Your Bawumia Is A Stranger In The NPP Propaganda – Bugri Naabu
Former Northern Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Daniel Bugri Naabu has cautioned members of the ruling party against engaging in acts that seek to destabilise and disunite ahead of the party in the coming elections in 2024.
The New Patriotic Party is gearing up for its presidential primaries slated for later this year. So far, about six people have expressed interest in leading the party as presidential candidate in 2024.
One of the names being mentioned as potential flagbearer of the party is Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, but some elements who are against his candidature have questioned his membership status in the party.
They argued that Bawumia was only pardoned to be selected as the running mate to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and therefore should not be in line to take over from the President.
But Bugri Naabu disagrees with this and has asked persons making those claims to desist from referring to Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as “stranger” in the NPP.
He says such comments will only destroy the party and hurt its chances at the polls in 2024.
“I hear somebody was describing as a stranger in the party. I don’t know if the person is actually well NPP man. Maybe he wants to break the party because how can you say Bawumia is a stranger? It’s wrong.
“Bawumia’s father was NPP, he’s from where I come from so what are you telling us? Dombo was, Jedu Kalio, B.K Adama, Braimah…So what are you saying?
“Are you saying that Mumuni Bawumia…they were all in NPP. It was the Northern Peoples Party which moved to UP. What they are saying, if they don’t stop using those utterances it will provoke the North,” he said
