New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who won the party’s 2026 presidential primary, has paid visits to former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Dr. Bawumia paid former President John Agyekum Kufuor a visit on Tuesday to thank him for his leadership and ongoing mentorship throughout his political career.
As the NPP reconstructs in preparation for the general elections in 2028, the two leaders’ conversations centred on party cohesion, leadership, and strategic orientation.
During separate appearances, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo congratulated Dr. Bawumia on his win and promised to help efforts to mend party discord.
As the flagbearer gets ready to lead the party into the upcoming national elections, Mr. Akufo-Addo declared he would dedicate his efforts to bolstering the NPP’s base and rebuilding public trust.
After winning 56.48% of the valid votes in the NPP primaries, Dr. Bawumia has promised inclusive leadership and called on all party members to cooperate in order to present a unified front.
He has underlined that strengthening the party’s appeal to voters across the country requires unity inside the party.
