Following reports of money reportedly stolen from their house, Daniel Osei Kuffour, the husband of former sanitation minister Cecilia Dapaah, was also detained as part of ongoing investigations into allegations of corruption and crimes related to it.
When the office of the special prosecutor moved its plea for confirmation of an order to freeze Cecilia Dapaah’s bank accounts and take around $590,000 and GHC 2,730,000 discovered at her Abelemkpe home, this new information was presented in court.
But the judge presiding over the case queried why Cecilia Dapaah is the only person being investigated when the alleged tainted money was found in her matrimonial home.
Dr. Isidore Tuffour who represented the office of the special prosecutor, however, responded that Cecilia Dapaah’s husband has also been placed under arrest.
But the lawyer for Cecilia Dapaah noted that this was new information to them as her client is not aware of the supposed arrest of her husband.

Meanwhile, a hearing date of Thursday, August 31, has been set by the High Court in Accra to rule on the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) request to freeze Cecilia Dapaah’s bank accounts and seize money found at her Abelemkpe residence.
Since it was discovered that Cecilia Dapaah had more than $1 million in her residence, the Special Prosecutor’s Office has started an investigation into her for possible corruption and crimes related to corruption.
After news broke that her housekeepers were facing charges for allegedly stealing substantial quantities of cash and other personal belongings from her home, people were interested in the inquiry. Following a backlash from the public over the accusations, Cecilia Dapaah gave notice of her resignation as minister of sanitation. Later, the OSP detained her and released her on bond.
Cecilia Dapaah’s home was searched by the Office of the Special Prosecutor, who allegedly found US$590,000 and GH2.730,000 inside.
The court’s decision will determine whether Cecilia Dapaah’s bank accounts will be frozen and whether the cash discovered at her home may be taken as part of the continuing investigation into charges of corruption.
