The loss of a fellow patient who committed suicide early in the morning is being mourned by patients hospitalized to the Nyeri referral hospital. Amos Waweru, 49, used his belt to end his life in front of the hospital. Amos informed the on-duty nurse that he planned to use the restroom at 5 a.m. The nurse left him in good hands, only to return at six in the morning and discover Amos missing from his hospital bed.

On January 22nd, Amos was brought to the hospital where he received a diagnosis of pneumonia and gullet cancer. Amos was reportedly frightened of cancer, according to other patients who were housed in the same ward as him.

They said that Amos had become hopeless due to the worsening symptoms of cancer. According to what he had shared with other patients, he was afraid that his family would spend a lot of money on his treatment and end up dying from cancer.

Amos never disclosed to anyone that he had made his intentions known. Amos was not in his hospital bed, so the nurse went to the restrooms to look for him but was unsuccessful. The nurse was shocked to see Amos’s body hanging from a tree as she walked around the hospital grounds. Amos used his belt as a means of suicide. The police arrived and took a statement before escorting Amos’ body to the morgue.

The most lethal illness in the nation, particularly in Nairobi and Nakuru, has been identified as cancer. People are urged to adopt a healthy diet and engage in regular exercise.
