Cape Coast Sea Defense Project Phase II

0

Ghana must continuously and intentionally intervene in sector policy to protect its 550 km of coastal communities and livelihoods from the devastating effects of sea erosion. Failure to do so could result in the loss of these communities, particularly at a time when rising sea levels exacerbated by climate change variables continue to threaten their very existence.

The sector minister visited the Cape Coast Phase II marine defence project yesterday as part of his regular working visit to evaluate the project’s progress.

Beginning in September 2024, the 5 kilometre project will safeguard the prosperous settlements of Abakam, Brooyedur, Ekon, and Moree. More significantly, when the project is finished in September 2028, it will safeguard the Cape Coast-Takoradi Highway.

Our strong commitment to providing climate-resilient sea defence infrastructure that meets the needs of our coastal communities is demonstrated by the sector minister’s working visit to this and numerous other sea defence projects that are presently being built in various locations throughout Ghana’s coastal communities.
