The Chiefs of Aboso & Ehyireso and residents of the area have bemoaned the bad nature of the roads, particularly, the one leading to Aboso- Ehyireso commt. and claimed that they had appealed to central government, municipal Assembly,MP and other Stakeholders to repair it to no avail.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Nana Okogyefo Barima Aboso ll the chiefs of Wassa Aboso, reiterate that the road is so bad that it is difficult for farmers, residents and driving on it, especially during the current raining season.
“So drivers and the people who uses the road for their private work often try to dodge the numerous potholes on the road, putting the lives of pedestrians and passengers in danger,” they asserted.
According to Nana Okogyeaman Barima ii and the Chief of Ehyireso and with the help of some private wooden company mobilised themselves and tried to fix the major areas given them a problem and potholes with quarry stones and others.
The committee members for the area, explained that after confirmed of new MCE 2020 elections, there was an attempt by municipal assembly to fix the road with the construction of gutters, and asserted, the construction came to a halt.
The chiefs pointed out that due to the deplorable state of the road, drivers who ply it charge high transportation fares from passengers.
He noted that the residents therefore decided to fix the road since they stand to benefit.
“It is our responsibility as chiefs to see to it that the community is provided with good roads.
“However, the capacity to provide a very good road for the people of Aboso and Ehyireso community is not in my power but in the power of the Regional Director of Urban Roads or the Municipal Chief Executive ,” said by the chiefs.
He indicated that all the authorities concerned are aware of the deplorable nature of the roads because he had made several complaints to help fix them.
The chiefs plea to the government and the ministry of roads and highway to as a matter of urgency come to their aid seeks of several roads in both communities are in a very bad shape.
