The Ghana Police Service’s Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has revealed a number of arrests and continuing investigations that have had an impact on the entire nation.
The operations include the reopening of unresolved murder and disappearance cases, the lynching of a Liberian national in Accra, the arrest of a pastor accused of child sexual abuse, and the seizure of stolen electrical cables in Tema.
At a joint briefing with the Cyber Security Authority in Accra yesterday, CID Director General Lydia Yaako Donkor informed reporters that the measures were a part of intelligence-led efforts to combat economic offences, child exploitation, cybercrime, and other serious crimes affecting people and national infrastructure.
According to her, the briefing also aimed to inform the public on the police’s most recent activities and to motivate people to submit information that could help law enforcement.
Regarding the first case, she underlined that Ebenezer Conduah, 45, the lead pastor of Mahanaim Christian Center at Ankaful in the Central Region, was detained on March 6, 2026, in Woraba, a Cape Coast neighbourhood of Eguase, as part of a combined operation with National Security and the Cyber Security Authority.
According to her, investigations showed that the pastor had allegedly repeatedly sexually abused a 13-year-old girl in his home starting in August 2021 under the pretence of spiritual counselling and behavioural correction. He also allegedly recorded the acts on his mobile devices and occasionally made the victim hold pornographic materials on camera.
After the victim told her school headmistress about the violence, the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit received a formal report.
According to Ms. Donkor, forensic analysis was being done on laptops, hard drives, and mobile devices that were found in the suspect’s residence. The pastor was placed under arrest on remand, and his next court date is set for March 27.
Regarding the second instance, she revealed that investigations into the February 27, 2026, lynching of 24-year-old Liberian national Austin Tengbeh at Sakumono Lashibi, Accra, had been taken over by the Homicide Unit. Five individuals were taken into custody and placed under remand.
Instead of enforcing the law on their own, she urged the public to report criminal activities and denounced the practice of mob justice.
She stated that more than 100 drums of pilfered Electricity Company of Ghana wires were found at Sentuo Company in the Kpone Industrial Area in Tema by the police working with the Ministry of Energy. Ten people were detained in relation to the operation, including citizens of China and Ghana.
Lastly, Ms. Donkor mentioned that the CID Cold Case Unit had reopened a number of high-profile cases, such as Paulina Lamisi Akanbodiipo’s disappearance, Stella Adzoa Potakey Donkor’s murder in Tema Gulf City, Anthony Kudzo Ahiamah’s murder at Oyarifa, and Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Nana Pooley, who was fatally stabbed during a football game.
She urged anyone with knowledge that could help with investigations to come forward.
