Members of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG), have resumed work on Monday, May 16, after calling off its three-week-old strike.
This was after several meetings and deliberations with the Government. The strike was a result of its demand for a 20 percent political neutrality allowance from the government.
The strike, which began on April 21, 2022, saw work at the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies grind to a halt.
GBC News’ Vanessa Adjei visited some of the Ministries and Agencies and confirms the resumption of work. The News team’s first port of call was the Births and Deaths registry where staff were present and busily working.
The registrar at the Registry, Henrietta Lamptey, however, declined to speak to the media.
From the Births and Deaths Registry, the news team moved to the Registrar General’s Department where the place was busy with lots of people in queue waiting to either register or renew their registration.
Speaking to GBC News, the Public Relations Officer at the Registrar General’s Department, Nicholas Ofori Obeng-Twum expressed joy to be back to work but was quick to add that there is a lot of work to be done due to the backlog of registration since the strike.
