A Nigerian magistrate court has ordered one Isyaku Shu’aibu to kill his rooster to stop it from disturbing the neighbourhood.

Two neighbours petitioned the Kano State magistrate court that they are unable to have a sound sleep since Shu’aibu’s fowl is a notorious noise maker.
One of the plaintiffs, Yusuf Muhammed from Ja’en quarters told the court that the bird’s relentless loud crows violated his right to a sound night’s slumber.
The case was heard on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 and the court ordered Shu’aibu to kill the cock without delay.
Shu’aibu told the court that he had bought the bird to celebrate Good Friday and asked to be given time to kill it for a family feast.

The magistrate, Halima Wali ruled that Shu’aibu should cage the bird and slaughter it on Friday, April 7,2023 or face a penalty from the court.
