This latest earthquake has been particularly devastating, and the Turkish government has declared a three-day period of mourning. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has traveled to Izmir to survey the damage. He has also ordered the Turkish Red Crescent to provide assistance to those affected by the quake.
The Turkish government has also appealed for international help. The United Nations and other countries have already pledged their support.
The earthquake has left many people in Turkey in shock and grief. But the country is determined to rebuild and move forward. In the words of Prime Minister Erdogan, “We will overcome this disaster with our unity and solidarity.” Deadly Earthquake Rocks Turkey.
