The New Patriotic Party has affirmed the credibility of the Attorney General as the best AG Ghana has ever had.
Speaking at a news conference held in Accra, the lead counsel for the ruling NPP,Lawyer Frank Davis said he have taken a kneel interest in the press conference addressed by largest opposition party in Ghana NDC national chairman Hon Johnson Asiedu Nketiah on the matters relating to the case of Ato Forson vrs the Republic.
According to him, the NDC claimed an audio tape which captured the third defendant and the AG and was played which according to Mr Nketia was a phone conversation between the Attorney General and a defendant called Jakpe. Carefully listening to the audio tape, the Attorney General makes it clear that “this is a phone conversation and I have no idea of who is recording”. Part of the audio tape in which Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia is standing to call for immediate removal of the AG is nothing here-none-there because aside from breaks in the audio tape which testify that part of the conversation has been tempered with artificial intelligence technology, the AG tactically respond to the conversation in a manner that does not breach the constitution and also the matters before the court.
The audio again was a snapshot of certain parts of the conversation that Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia and the NDC think can stand on to make a case against the AG.
Again, there is no doubt that the defendant (Jakpa) commented on his ill health and that warrants the AG to direct him to present a medical report to the court from which that side of the conversation was cut off by the holders of the tape.
Esq Frank Davis hinted that this is because the AG in his right sense who earlier was aware that such a phone conversation could easily be recorded will not turn around to ask the defendant who is healthy to present a medical report to the court.
The audio played lacks credibility and substantial evidence to call for the AG’s removal and again cannot sway attention from the matters before the court.
