Dr Daniel Mckorley Writes Over The Birth Of McDan Shipping

Nana Yaw CobbinaBy Nana Yaw CobbinaMay 5, 2025No Comments

Years before McDan Shipping was birthed, at a time when I was doing a lot of menial side jobs, I always thought the key to success was finding my “passion.” I mean, I heard it everywhere—“Do what you love,” “Follow your passion,” “Find what makes you jump out of bed every day and do that.” But here’s the truth: the real difference maker isn’t passion, it’s discipline.

When I was starting, I didn’t have everything mapped out, but I understood one thing—showing up consistently mattered more than waiting for inspiration to strike. I focused on delivering value daily, even in roles that didn’t exactly scream “dream job.”

I took on projects others didn’t want, jobs that didn’t have the spotlight, and handled them like they were golden opportunities. Those small, overlooked tasks? They became my training ground, teaching me skills I rely on today—critical thinking, strategic planning and execution, time management, problem-solving and decision-making and learning how to work with all kinds of people.

When you’re just starting, it’s tempting to chase the glamorous roles, but let me tell you, the real foundation comes from building habits, not chasing after jobs with fancy titles so you can impress your online followers. Success is rarely about passion; it’s about consistency. Show up, even for the work you consider ordinary. Pay attention to the details. Dive into what’s in front of you and learn from it.

Stick to the process, create habits, and keep the discipline. Because, trust me, passion has a way of finding the disciplined ones who put in the work.
