When asked about his approach to community engagement, he noted that traditional community centers have given way to social media. “In times past, when I was young, my father would send me to the community center, where they go to play, ‘Ludo’, ‘Dame’ among others. In recent times, those centers do not exist. There’s a new society known as social media, where we get the opportunity to share ideas and also to interact,” he explained.
Dr. Amoakohene also assured the committee that he would utilize his social media presence to promote the government’s agenda and engage with the youth. “I want to assure the house that I’m not going to overly rely on social media. However, the platforms will be available so that the youth who would want to reach me can still send a message, and there will be a team there who will look at the messages and draw my attention, in order that I will be able to assist them when need be,” he added.
