Mr. Beautiful, better known in his private life as Clement Bonney, a Kumawood actor, has slammed the establishment of the Electronic Transactions Levy (E-Levy) as complete foolishness. E-Levy is pure ‘nonsense’ – Mr. Beautiful
In an interview with Amansan Krakye on Kastle FM in Cape Coast, the actor-turned-politician said that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had lavishly squandered all of the debts he has taken out since taking office.
“Nana Addo has borrowed tremendous amounts of money in Ghana’s history but has spent all of those sums frivolously,” he said.
“You’re eagerly following up on the little money remaining in Ghanaians’ mobile money accounts to go and squander it,” he said.
“How can you send new sheep to go grazing if the sheep who left for grazing haven’t returned?” he fumed. “E-Levy is sheer folly.”
President Akufo-Addo signed the 1.5 percent taxation bill into law in March 2022 after it was passed by Ghana’s Parliament, and implementation is slated to begin in May 2022.
