Exploring New Frontiers: Ghana prison Service Engages GFZA in Rehabilitation-Focused Partnership
As Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), I was pleased to welcome the leadership of the Ghana Prison Service to our Head Office on Monday, 14th July 2025. The meeting, led by the Director General, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, ESQ, focused on exploring how our two institutions can work together to support the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates. She shared the Prison Service’s mission of ensuring safety, reformation, and economic empowerment, particularly through vocational and agribusiness initiatives. Her call for strategic partnerships to help equip inmates with skills for life after prison was both timely and inspiring.
Ghana Free Zones Authority, we see a clear alignment between our development goals and the Prison Service’s reintegration efforts. Many of our Free Zone enterprises, especially those in agribusiness, are well-positioned to offer practical training and employment opportunities to inmates, helping them build a path toward a better future. I assured the delegation of our interest in supporting this vision and committed to reaching out to our network of investors to explore ways they can contribute meaningfully to this effort.
We agreed to develop a clear framework for collaboration, with a focus on vocational training, job creation, and long-term rehabilitation. As part of our commitment, the Ghana Prison Service will be featured in our upcoming 30th Anniversary celebrations as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility efforts. This partnership marks a step forward in creating shared value where economic growth goes hand in hand with second chances and social inclusion.
