FixTheCountry believes in Justice and that’s why we ask for a new Constitution – Oliver

    GNPBy GNPMay 23, 2022No Comments

Convener for #FixTheCountry, Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor has justified the movement’s demand for a new constitution, insisting that it is because of the belief in justice and the possibility of a new Ghana where the citizenry does not only enjoy peace but the riches of the country.

The Movement since its birth last year has grown from a social media to the streets where a number of demonstrations have been undertaken to demand better from those in government.

Addressing followers of the movement in a Facebook live video on Monday, May 23, 2022, Convener Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor rallied all to find courage following his recent ordeals with the Police.

He said in all the activism, #FixTheCountry is a respecter of law and will continue to go about all activities without violence.

“We must show Ghanaians and the world at large that we have built a movement which over a year and nearly 10 demonstrations across the country has never resorted to violence.

“Not a single person has been injured at our demonstration, not a single person was attacked or property destroyed. FixTheCountry abides by the law every day and it will forever abide by the tenets of our democracy,” the activist who is standing trial for treason felony has said.

In his address, he explained that his movement has been calling for a new constitution because it believes in justice.

According to him, a new constitution is needed for the country to move on from the one borne out of coup d’états.

“FixTheCountry believes in justice and that is why we ask for a new Constitution that better serves our generation. Not one imposed on us by coup d’état which they are collaborators of,” Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor stressed.

The activist added, “This is the time we show Ghanaians that we will not be made to choose between peace and poverty. We can have prosperity, not just for a few individuals, we can live in harmony with our neighbours, we can have all these things. They cannot impoverish us and threaten us when we demand anything different it means we want the end of our democracy. That is the illogic of a leadership that has lost the plot. We are better than them.”
