THE Traditional rites of the Ga people is often associated with drumming, and it’s the perogative of a clan to play these drums. Just as it is with a governance structure, leadership of these clans must acknowledge any installed Mantse or King, and accord him all the necessary respect and grant him the rights to their abode. It is for this reason the “Krokoto We ShamÉ”” rites took place.
In the wee hours of Sunday 2nd of July 2023, the Sakumor Wulormor Nuumo Ogbarmey III accompanied by some elders and supported by the Ga paramount Jaase elders performed the necessary rites to officialy ussher the King into the Korkoto royal abode.
Also present at the short but impressive ceremony were elders of the Krokoto We, namely:
Nii Ayiboteley Ayitey Nalai
Nii Ayaa Aryeetey
Ex WO 1 Enoch Ayikwei Aryeetey
Nii Ayitey-Nalai and many others.
The Krokoto drums are the original drums played before and after ban on drumming and noisemaking. They are the legitimate drummers for every traditional rite of Gamashie.
The presence of the elders of Krokoto We and the playing of the Krokoto drums to lead the king to their ancestral legitimises the process, this was sealed with the slaughtering of a ram and blessed with libation from Nuumo Ogbarmey III.
