GENDER MINISTER DONATES TO HER CONSTITUENTS

The heart touching and mother for all, Honorable *Hajia Lariba Abudu* today donated some items to over 2000 Widows during this festive season to enable the needy women celebrate the Christmas and new year with smiles on dear faces.
A package of the items to each widow comprises of a bag of rice, a cloth, tin tomatoes and GH¢50. 00.
This gesture marks a second edition of such donation by the Member of Parliament for Walewale Constituency who doubled as the Minister of Gender, children and social protection.
Today donation was given to the Christians in the constituency, widows from walewale township, Wulugu, Gbimsi, Nasia and Wungu all the Walewale Constituency.
The Minister in her remarks stated that the donations will continue from tomorrow at the rest of the Zones within the constituency to reach every deserving widow.
She also mentioned that plans are far advance to empower the women with sustainable income to enable them care for themselves and their children.
She added that the Livilihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program is being Reassessed to graduate some and enroll other needy people into it and her ministry is equally working on issues Kayaye to either help stop it or make it more dignified for our sisters but was very clear that she’s going to do every possible within her mandate to make sure school going age children do not engage in the Kayaye and remain in school to educated
The Minister thanked and acknowledged supports from Bank of Ghana (BOG), Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG), Samira Empowerment and Humanitarian Program (SEHP), Office of the Vice president, The chief of staff; Honorable Frema Opare and Ghana Civil Aviation.
Present on the occasion was the eloquent and down to earth North East Regional Minister, Yidana Zakaria, the Chairman of the program; the venerable Kpanadaani of Soo traditional area in the Mamprugu kingdom who is a former DCE of west Mamprusi municipality, Honorable Nabla Sulemana, Mba Kpaanaa, Mba Jarigbandaana, Mba Duraana, Mba Naamiyala Daana, the MCEs for West and East Mamprusi municipalities, Honorable Arimiyaw Issahaku Somo and Hajia Rashida Mahama respectively, the DCEs for Cheriponi, Bunkprugu and Yunyoo; Honorable Hajia Zuwera Mahama, Joseph Luknann and Honorable Konlan Bitian respectively, the North women’s organizer; Honorable Umu Sanda Abubakari, Walewale Constituency NPP chairman; Mr. Muniru Janda a. k. a. chairman NAROS, Pastors and leaders of the West Mamprusi local council of churches and Leadership of Bawumia Youth Centre and Bawumia Youth For Development.
