The inaugural GFZA Business Support Interaction was an outstanding success! Held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, the event revolved around the theme, “Driving business growth through sustainable access to resources, information, and markets.”
This highly anticipated event brought together representatives from Free Zones Enterprises, key personnel of the Authority, and important stakeholders, including the Ghana Customs Service Division – GRA and Ghana Immigration Service.
During the event, Mrs. Kate Abbeo, Deputy CEO in charge of Finance and Administration of the Authority, introduced the AfterCare Unit, a specialized customer-service unit dedicated to working with partners to efficiently address and resolve all customer-related concerns of enterprises. The AfterCare Unit’s primary focus is to lead the Authority’s effort in providing tailored solutions and service support to businesses.
Amb Mike Oquaye Jnr, CEO of the Authority, emphasized the Authority’s remarkable effort in digitization, which has significantly enhanced business accessibility. He highlighted the revamped website of the Authority, now accessible at www.gfza.gov.gh. This user-friendly platform allows prospective investors to effortlessly navigate through different sections, access relevant information, and complete the license application process more efficiently. He further commended the leadership of the GFZA AfCFTA desk for their Stellar performance in supporting the first 11 companies to export to Kenya as part of the Ghana Trade House launch event.
The maiden Business Support Interaction’s highlight was a panel discussion which featured esteemed experts, including Mr. Isaac Lourtey (Commissioner of Immigration), Mr. Seth Nii-Boye Tetteh PRO (principal revenue officer of Customs Division), Mr. John Adda Abuga (Director, Compliance & Monitoring, GFZA), and Mrs. Patience Agbleze Acorlor (Director, Tema Administrative Office, GFZA). These experts not only answered questions from participants but also shared invaluable insights on the challenges and opportunities faced by free zones enterprises in Ghana.
The panel discussion was both captivating and informative, allowing participants to actively engage by asking questions and expressing their viewpoints.
This event further solidified the GFZA’s unwavering commitment to supporting business growth in the country, as it continues to provide essential resources and information to facilitate the success of enterprises. The future holds great promise for Ghana’s vibrant business community with the GFZA leading the charge!
