The Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) has handed over MIC-PCR diagnostic equipment and kits to the Government of Ghana to help in the fight against the CoviD-19 pandemic.
The items that is estimated at a total cost of 83,000 Euros was acquired by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to support Ghana in the rapid detection and characterization of viruses in the country.
The diagnostic equipment which is to be given to University of Health and Allied Sciences in the Volta Region, has the capacity to test 2,300 Samples within a 24hr period.
This will help the country in dealing with the issue of backlog of samples taken from suspected cases as the country embarks on more testing to contain the disease.
