The Weija Treatment Plant will be temporarily shut down, according to Ghana Water Ltd. (GWL), so that engineers may make necessary repairs.

The shutdown will occur from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., according to a news release from the Accra West Regional Office on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. This will result in a brief disruption of the water supply to various areas of Accra.

Korle-Bu, Dansoman, Mamprobi, portions of Weija, Gbawe, Malam, Anyaa, Kwashieman, Ablekuma, Darkuman, Kaneshie, Tesano, Odorkor, Sowutuom, Lapaz, portions of Achimota, North Industrial Area, and neighbouring communities are among the affected locations.

The public was reassured by GWL that engineers are already present and working to finish the repairs in the allotted time.

The business expressed regret for the inconvenience and asked locals to be patient while they worked quickly to restore the water supply.
