Ghana’s Black Stars are expected to collect $10.5 million from FIFA after successfully qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The figure comprises FIFA’s guaranteed participation fee for teams that qualify for the tournament, less any earnings from match bonuses and performance incentives.

This comes after FIFA approved a record $727 million prize fund for the inaugural edition of the expanded 48-team event.

The FIFA Council ratified the prize-money pool, which represents a 50% increase from the total granted at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Participating countries will get $655 million in performance-based prize money under the new arrangement.

Teams that place between 33rd and 48th will get $9 million, and those that place between 17th and 32nd will get $11 million.

Every eligible country will also receive $1.5 million to cover preparatory expenses, guaranteeing a minimum payout of $10.5 million for every team that advances to the finals, regardless of the outcome.

The World Cup champions will receive $50 million at the high end, while the runners-up will receive $33 million.

The teams in third and fourth place will get $29 million and $27 million, respectively, while the teams in fifth through eighth place will get $19 million each. $15 million will be awarded to teams eliminated in the round of 16 (9th–16th).

After an outstanding performance in the African qualifications, the Black Stars were able to qualify. Ghana will make its fifth World Cup appearance in 2026, having previously competed in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022.
