GNP: Kwaku Agyemang Manu In Ministerial Vetting Says Accra And Kumasi Take 80% Of Ghanaian Doctors

According to today’s vetting of ministerial nominees, a health ministry nominee, the MP for Dormaa Central Constituency, Honourable Kwaku Agyemang has said today, 10th February, 2021 that the ministry of health of Ghana post about 80% of Ghanaian trained medical doctors to only Accra and Kumasi.

This revelation by the Hon. MP who doubled as Health Minister from 2017 to 2020, has made more health workers flabbergasted.

Some people think though Accra and Kumasi have higher classes of health facilities, the work loads for Accra and Kumasi facilities are too huge and they wish to call for decentralization.

Meanwhile, Kumasi and Accra cannot carry the health load of the entire country. Other regional hospitals must be stuffed well to be able to carry some of the referring cases that can attract more lives saving.

Yes! Decentralizing the workloads of 37, Ridge, Korle-Bu and KATH health facilities to the other regional health facilities is very needful this time because the rest of the regional hospitals often refer severe cases to those hospitals in Accra and Kumasi.
