Gospel artiste Mary Lincoln ‘repents’ after her nαʋghty photos go viral. After her explicit images and video appeared online and gained widespread attention, Mary Lincoln, a well-known gospel singer from the Central Region, expressed regret and begged for prayers on Monday.
She was accompanied by a number of artists, including Karangu wa Muraya, who has been in the news recently for allegedly taking a celebrity’s wife on a vacation to Dubai.
According to reports, Ms. Lincoln’s widely shared images wrecked her polygamous union with a well-known local radio personality.
She allegedly had a wealthy admirer who supported her lifestyle and threatened to take back his gifts.
Prior to her fame and money, Ms. Lincoln worked as a hairdresser in Nairobi’s Gikomba market while her singing career was in shambles.
The blogger Martha Mwihaki Hinga, who is widely known for reporting on celebrity scandals and has a sizable following, posted the naked pictures.
Following the photos’ virality, some questioned why she permitted the taking of such pictures in the modern era given the likelihood that they would surface online. She has, however, claimed to have modified her behavior.
“Yes, we went to the Christian Foundation Fellowship (CFF) Church for repentance and forgiveness prayer. Our God is merciful and offers those who repent a second chance to resume service to him,” Ms. Lincoln said.
The viral footage is “now neither here nor there, what is important is that I am now full of renewed energy to continue ministering and spreading love of our merciful and forgiving God,” she added.
Following the prayers, the gospel singer took to social media to express her gratitude to God for his love, as well as to Bishop Michael Wanderi and Rev David Mwangi for their prayers. She also expressed gratitude to “all my fellow artists and all my friends who have been praying with me.”
Later, photos of her crying and kneeling down while the clerics prayed for her were circulated on the internet.
According to Mr Muraya, the prayer session was a spiritual re-energizing drive.
“Jehovah you are God of a second chance and you forgive and forget without dwelling on our past…from the bottom of our hearts we are grateful for giving our sister Mary Lincoln and giving us a second chance to serve you…Thank you Bishop Wanderi for your prayers,” he said.
