Good News: Gov’t and Labour Union Agree On 30% Salary Increment.
The terms of the agreement between the government and the labour union about the salary increment for government workers have finally been agreed.
For the fiscal year 2023, organized labor and the government have reached an agreement on a 30 percent increase to the single spine base pay.
By this, the Controller and Accountant General are ordered to implement this beginning with the January 2023 paycheck.
A meeting between the two sides concluded inconclusively for the sixth time just two days ago.
On the basis of the single spine salary system, Organized Labor demanded a 60% increase in base pay, but the administration steadfastly argued that this was not possible.
According to Organized Labour, the difficult economic conditions are a major factor in the percentage demanded.
In a previous interview with Citi News (January 10) on the sidelines of a briefing, the Deputy Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Bright Wereko-Brobby, explained that, “since the beginning of the year, this has been our first meeting, and so we recapped what we have been doing.
“We have both decided to come tomorrow Wednesday, January 11, 2023, to conclude our negotiations. We are working very fast. Tomorrow God willing, we will share any information that will come up.”
