GRNMA-BA Holds Women And Gender Seminar For Members
The Brong Ahafo Chapter of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association held a maiden seminar for women and Gender on the theme GENDER EQUALITY TODAY FOR A SUSTAINABLE TOMORROW IN THE NURSING AND MIDWIFERY PROFESSIONS.
The occasion took place at the Regional Secretariat in Sunyani on the 24th of June, 2022.
Participants were drawn from all 29 districts in the BA regions with representatives from 10 nursing and midwifery training institutions in the region.
Present to grace the occasion was the National Coordinator for women and Gender, Mrs. Irene Jacobs. She was ably assisted by the Middle Zone Coordinator, Mrs. Harriet Awuni.
The occasion was chaired by the Regional Officer for Nursing and Midwifery Council, Mrs. Bernice Konama Gyau.
Of course the ever present Regional Chairman for the Region, Mr. Fidelis Atibila was present to address participants.
Also present was the media; GBC Radio/TV, Adom Radio/TV and a Sunyani based Ark FM.
Mrs. Jacobs delivered a powerful and inspiring speech encouraging women to get ready to take up leadership and participatory roles in  all spheres of our national lives and not recoil to their small corners with multiple excuses.
There were three presentations on:
1. Breaking the Bias to increase women participation in leadership in the Nursing and Midwifery professions by Mrs. Bernice Konama Gyau
2. The confident woman by Mrs. Harriet Awuni
3. Early Detection and management of cervical cancer by …..
Certificates were issued to all participants at the end of the presentations.
Over all, participants were full of praises for the initiative by the leadership of the Association.
