Ghanaian giants, Hearts of Oak have been crowned Champions of the MTN FA Cup competition for the second year running following a 2-1 comeback win against Bechem United on Sunday night.
The Phobians a year ago beat Ashanti Gold SC on penalties at the Accra Sports Stadium to clinch the enviable title.
Although the club has struggled to compete in the local league this season, the team still managed to qualify for the finals of the MTN FA Cup.
To compensate for losing the Ghana Premier League title to rivals Asante Kotoko, players of the Phobians this evening put up a spirited performance in the finals of the domestic cup competition.
In a game against Bechem United played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Hearts of Oak trailed after the 40th minute when the Hunters equalised through a strike from Emmanuel Avornyo.
Staying focused and determined, the team from Accra scored through defender Caleb Amankwa on the stroke of halftime to force the first half to end in a 1-1 stalemate.
After recess, Hearts of Oak played some fine football and netted the crucial winning goal on the hour-mark thanks to a strike from talented forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh.
With Bechem United forced to play the final 25 minutes of the game with 10 men after poster boy Augustine Okrah had been given the marching orders, Hearts of Oak controlled the game to ensure the team cruised to a delightful 2-1 win at full-time.
The win has seen Hearts of Oak successfully win the MTN FA Cup for the second consecutive season.
