I don’t know how much fuel costs because I don’t own a car – KT Hammond.
KT Hammond, a member of parliament for Adansi Asokwa and a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), claims he is unaware of the current price of gasoline in Ghana.
The long-term lawmaker claims that because he doesn’t own a car, he is unaware of how expensive fuel is.
At a committee hearing for the censure of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, he said this in response to Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu.
During the committee hearing on the motion of censure against the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, Mr. K.T. Hammond responded strongly when asked by the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, if he had observed the current fuel costs, saying “I don’t buy fuel, I don’t have a car so I don’t buy fuel.”
As a result of disagreements between the majority and minority committee members over how to submit evidence, the public hearing of the committee on the censure motion against Mr. Ofori Atta got off to a difficult start on Tuesday morning.
The setup of the committee comes after the Minority raised a vote of censure against the Minister over conflict-of-interest claims and poor performance.
Dominic Ayine, NDC MP for Bolgatanga East, and KT Hammond, NPP MP for Adansi-Asokwa, co-chair the committee and must give their report to the House within seven (7) days.
