‘I’m 16 and only smoke 5 cigarettes a day.’ Continue Reading
My mom has been making little comments
Yep. stink, so yes she knows. I do wonder how at 16 you can afford the cost of cigarettes, and it will get dearer.
Being a smoker can mean being poorer, not being able to travel, not being able to afford that nice car, buy a house, not getting a job you want. Most people don’t want to work with someone who stinks and takes time off to have a cigarette while they do your job for you.
Many people who see you smoking will dismiss you as a loser and some will say that behind your back. A high percentage of people with mental issues smoke. So some might think, poor dear, you can’t help it, as you have mental problems.
I think that last one when I see a smoker, especially now as those that appear to be finding life difficult are those most commonly seen still smoking. Only about 14% of people smoke where I live now. Most people who can, have given up smoking. It was the grandparents generation who smoked a lot. So passé.
Wait until you get that endearing smokers cough and you start coughing up gunk. So GROSS!! It will likely happen. One of my neighbours could be heard coughing up his lungs in the morning. You will enjoy that when that happens, which it more than likely will. GROSS! (Can’t say that word enough.)
He committed suicide. I suspect he might have been told he had lung cancer (certainly sounded like it). Left a wife and new baby behind.
Then there are mouth cancers, etc, caused by smoking. Both my grandfathers smoked. One died of lung cancer. They took one lung out, but the other lung then got cancer and they couldn’t (naturally) remove that as well.
I don’t know what his death was like, as I was a child at the time, but I can’t imagine it was nice; gasping, struggling to breathe. The other died of a heart attack at only 60, likely brought on by his chain smoking. The grandmothers who didn’t smoke, lived until their 80s and 90s.
So, loser, if you don’t mind stinking, coughing up grossness, finding yourself gasping for breath, being avoided by many people (non-smokers don’t tend to mix with smokers, but there will be other losers you can be friends with), keep on smoking.
