Referee Joseph Kenny Padi has reportedly quits refereeing after Ghana Football Association ban.
The FA’s Match Review Panel suspended Kenny Padi for the rest of the season after he was found guilty of erring in the penalty decision in the league game between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.
Padi was reported by Hearts of Oak for his role in their 1-0 loss to bitter rivals Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League.
The Phobians insisted it was a dubious call, and they have been proven right by the Match Review who ruled that Padi will not officiate any matches for the rest of the season.
Padi awarded Kotoko a penalty in the first half, which Franck Mbella Etouga converted to secure the Porcupine Warriors’ victory.
Speaking to Kumasi-based Kessben FM, retired Ghanaian referee Eric Owusu Mensah has disclosed retired Ghanaian referee disclosed Padi has decided not to return to officiating after his sanction.
“I personally called him on phone after the verdict and he told me, he’s not coming back to officiating. He has quit it even after the suspension is over.
“He even said, the incident was a clear penalty and he will take such incident as penalty thousand times in a game he will officiate on earth “It’s sad but that’s what happens when you don’t have people who have been on the field with experience adjudicating judgements on our game,” Kala concluded.
