Koryoe, the unsung traditional afrobeat artiste
Traditional Afrobeat as a genre of music is gradually gaining momentum and the recognition it deserves in Ghana. With the ultimate aim of promoting culture, history and tradition through music, it has attracted a lot of artistes to join the ship to put Ghana on the world map.
One of such musician is Cynthia Cudjoe with the stage name “Koryoe”. The 39 -year old dancer who hails from Odumase Krobo in the Eastern Region of Ghana has received a lot of awards due to her hard work.
Starting as a dancer she now has eight (8) singles to her credit which won her Best Performing Art in Bechem in the Brong-Ahafo Region in Ghana.
Formerly known as Cindy Sesa, Koryoe has made strong impact in the Ghanaian music airwaves and online digital platforms.
The African Queen hit maker has performed on several platforms including “Music Music” and the performance of her song “Kikiyoo” on Ghana’s Most Beautiful in 2004.
Her passion to promote her motherland Ghana as Pan Africanist forced her to initiate “Right To Return” during Ghana’s 2021 Independence Day Celebration in March. This was to inculcate the spirit of patriotism by encouraging people from the diaspora to participate in the National Anthem Singing Challenge.
With just two years of professional music, she has gained international recognition and expected to perform in the United Kingdom in a yet to be confirmed date.
