A recently surfaced audio recording has thrust Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, into the spotlight as she criticizes fellow parliamentarian and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
Shared on YouTube by One Ghana TV, the viral voice note captures Koomson accusing Agyapong of displaying arrogance and utilizing his acts of benevolence as a tool for subsequent insults.
In the recording, Hawa Koomson voices her reluctance to accept assistance from Agyapong, who is known both as a businessman and a prominent financier of the NPP.

She recalls a past incident in 2012 when Agyapong offered to provide cars to party members. Koomson reveals she declined the offer, citing her apprehension that Agyapong’s assistance might be followed by derogatory remarks in the future.
Her candid statement includes, “I am not one of those who will receive his help for him to go out and trumpet for the entire world to hear…I know Kennedy Agyapong will turn around to insult you in the future whenever he helps you and knowing that I didn’t want to be insulted in the future, I did not go for the car.”
Furthermore, Koomson addresses an alleged incident where she confronted Agyapong at the office of fellow MP KT Hammond. She expresses her frustration at what she perceives as Agyapong’s divisive approach within the NPP and his reported claims on the party’s WhatsApp platform.
Notably, Koomson’s remarks come amidst internal party tensions, including clashes on WhatsApp groups.
The MP accuses a pro-Ken NPP member of attacking her on the party’s Awutu Senya East Constituency platform, prompting her to respond with her own statements.
Koomson’s allegiance to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the NPP flagbearer contest is no secret, and she takes this opportunity to challenge Agyapong’s commitment to the party.
She questions his loyalty, suggesting that his threats to leave the country if not elected as flagbearer do not align with the values of a genuine NPP member.
Accusations regarding Agyapong’s financial gains from NPP contracts add another layer to Koomson’s critique. She insinuates that Agyapong’s newfound ambition for the party’s top position may be influenced by his past contributions.
