President John Dramani Mahama has promised to distribute three million birds throughout Ghana’s 276 constituencies as part of a national drive to assist small and medium-sized poultry farmers.

President Mahama stated at the Nkoko Nketenkete project launch on Wednesday, November 12, that the project aims to close the gap between community-based producers and large-scale commercial chicken businesses.

We are helping 500 small and medium-sized poultry farmers in every region to raise three million birds under the Food Systems Resilient Program.

About 60,000 households nationally will benefit from the government’s plan to distribute three million birds throughout the nation’s 276 constituencies, with 10,000 birds going to each.

He stated, “Each household participating in Nkoko Nketenkete will receive 50 birds, key support, and technical guidance to ensure the sustainability of their project,”

The program’s objectives are to increase household incomes, increase domestic chicken production, and lessen the nation’s reliance on imported poultry products.

The government hopes to empower communities and boost the poultry value chain from production to market by providing practical technical assistance and bird access.

The administration intends to increase the inclusivity of poultry farming through Nkoko Nketenkete, giving smallholders and medium-sized farmers the chance to engage in an industry that has struggled with issues like expensive feed, restricted access to better breeds, and inadequate processing capacity.
