A dramatic incident unfolded on the Kronom-Offinso highway in the Ashanti Region, as an enraged man directed curses towards a motor traffic officer, alleging that he had extorted an amount of GH¢200 from him.
According to a report by Otec FM, eyewitnesses provided the man with water in an attempt to persuade him to revoke his curses.
However, the man, who identified himself as a fetish priest, insisted that only Schnapp (a type of alcoholic beverage) could reverse the curse, asserting that the water was ineffective.
In a video capturing the incident, the fetish priest can be seen dressed in a smock, surrounded by several traffic wardens and an MTTD officer.
He proceeds to pour libation in the middle of the road, utilizing a bottle of Schnapp as part of the ritual to reverse the curse.
According to the report, the wardens, who work alongside the MTTD officer, were allegedly the ones who negotiated and received the GH¢200 from the priest.
The priest purportedly informed the officer that he had agreed to pay the GH¢200, as he had yet to register the tricycle, but urged the officer to ensure that the money was properly accounted for by the government. He concluded by invoking the gods, stating, “If you misappropriate the money, may the gods deal with you.”
The incident sheds light on the alleged extortion and misconduct by a motor traffic officer.
Such actions undermine public trust in law enforcement and highlight the need for transparency and accountability within the system.
