“Mock Me For Economic Woes”, You Will Still Lose In 2024 – Akuffo-Addo Tells NDC.
President Akuffo has advised the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to stop thinking they could win the 2024 election because of the current economic crisis in the country.
He says the current difficulties will in no way help the NDC wrestle power back from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the forthcoming general elections in Ghana.
Ghana is currently experiencing economic crunch with rising debt levels, inflation rate coupled with a weakening currency which is crumbling against the major foreign exchange.
While government cites Covid-pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine War as factors affecting the economy several members of the NDC put the blame squarely on the doorsteps of President Akuffo-Addo and his Vice Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
They have often asserted that Ghana’s economic is suffering due to mismanagement and corruption on the part of the president and his appointees.
However, President Akuffo, while speaking in an interview with the Upper East Radio last Monday, says he is aware the NDC is happy over the challenges that the country is going through at the moment.
“I know that there are people especially the National Democratic Congress, who have begun to celebrate already because of the difficulties that the country is facing.
“Tell them, one duck does not make a summer. One swallow does not make a summer. They should hesitate, they have been writing me off all my political career, they say i can’t make it. I have won twice AND I am going to win again for the party in December 2024”, he said.
Per recent allegations suggest President Akuffo-Addo only wish to hand over power to a New Patriotic Party Presidential candidate
Quite recently, the former Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu alleged that President Akuffo-Addo is scheming to ensure the NPP stays in power beyond 2024.
Mr. Amidu made this allegation in response to the recent shake-up at the Bureau of National Security which saw Mr Edward Asomani being appointed as the new National Security Coordinator.
He said President Akuffo-Addo is determined to ensure that by the time he leaves office all the instruments of law enforcement, state security and intelligence power will be led by persons with proven political dedication and loyalty to his person, and his family and friends.

Perhaps the President’s believe that his party, the NPP, will retain power in the next election even in the midst of the hardship in the country, is what is making persons who know him or have worked with him before allege that he does not want to hand over to the opposition.
